Carryall(Edit)

A carryall is a large ornithopter used to carry a spice harvesters to and from spice fields. It is normally crewed by four to six men.

Spice Harvester(Edit)

A Spice Harvester is a mobile factory dropped by a carryall onto a spice field. The machine harvests the spice from the desert floor, filtering out the sand. The vibrations caused by harvesting always attract a worm, which will destroy the harvester. Large worms can swallow a harvester whole, smaller ones will simply crush the harvester until it stops.

When mining, spotter ornithopters watch for approaching worms. When one is spotted, the carryall picks up the harvester and takes it to safety. Because of the tremendous value of the spice, the harvester is picked up at the last possible moment.
