You live in Sietch Bissal, a single thumper from both Arrakeen and Carthag. The naib is Hayawiyya, married to Ibhama, mother of Raghba and Qaliilan.

The campaign starts in standard year 10,174 (Dune started in 10,191, so about 17 years before the start of the first book). Pardot Kynes is alive and well, and has a son, Liet Kynes. Kynes has convinced the fremen that he can turn Dune into a temperate planet with grass, water open to the air, etc, and the first steps towards that have started (though it's expected to be several centuries before the work is complete).

The Fremen are bribing the Guild in spice to keep the skies clear of any kind of satellite, so that outsiders won't find out what's going on. There are some greenhouses in the southern extremities near the polar cap. Most sietches (including yours) have some spice harvesting equipment, and some of the spice you harvest goes towards paying the Guild bribes.

There are some smuggler groups that harvest spice to sell on the black market. They are tolerated, just as long as they don't see anything they shouldn't.

The Harkonnens have been in charge on Arrakis since 10,111. They work the sands, not caring too much about how many crewmen they lose, as long as they don't lose equipment. Beast Rabban is in charge, and making it obvious why he has the nickname "Beast".

OOC note: anything could happen from here on in. The Atreides may arrive in 17 years. Or next year. Or never. Some other great house may take over from the Harkonnen instead. In short, don't expect things to go the way they did in the books.
